Gloria Ann Mercer, age 64, of Alma passed away November 15, 2023 in Chesapeake, VA with her family by her side.  She was a native of Coffee County and was the daughter of the late D.L. Wildes, Sr. (Lettie) and Ruby K. Carter (Billy). Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter Amelia Mae Davis.

Gloria was a devout Christian and member of New Lacy Church of God. A woman of many talents, Gloria was a nurse, paralegal, bookkeeper, author and a small business owner. In her free time, Gloria enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, reading her bible, vacationing at the beach, and spending time with her family and her church family.

Survivors include two children, Farest Davis (Michelle) of Chesapeake, VA and Dr. Danielle Grun (James) of Eastman, GA; five grandchildren, Avery Davis, Tyler Davis (Marisa), Gavin Davis, Isaiah Tapee and Ryleigh Davis; three great-grandchildren, Addison, Tynan and Colt Davis; six siblings, Wanda Medders (Tad) of Alma, Donna McIntosh (Mickey) of Blackshear, Don Wildes (Amanda) of Douglas, Telisa Carver of Denton, David Wildes (Kara) of Cordele and Kim Evans (Sambo) of Douglas; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved dog Hercules, fondly referred to as Herky.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM at New Lacy Church of God with Pastor Jamie Rivera officiating. Family invites you to join them from 12 – 2:00 PM prior to the funeral for lunch and fellowship. Interment will follow at DeBerry Baptist Church Cemetery in Ambrose.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be her nephews. The New Lacy Church of God congregation will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
