Gwen L. Evans, age 74, of Alma passed away September 16, 2023 at her residence after a short illness. She was a native of Bacon County and daughter of the late Preston R. Taylor and Mary Lou Douglas Taylor. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Johnny V. Johnson, son-in-law, Pinckney Rogers,  great nephew, Drayden Sears, great-great nephew, Abram Wilson and great-great niece, Gracie Kay Cauley.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, J. B. Evans; two daughters, Wendy Evans Rogers (Jim Carter) and Leslie Douglas (P.J.) of Alma; four grandchildren, Evan Carter, Corey Douglas, Darian Douglas (Taylor Sharpe) and Deen Rogers; two sisters, Sandra Wilson (Dailey) and Cheryl Johnson of Alma; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and also great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Nettles officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1:00 PM until service time.

Active pallbearers will be: Voski Williams, Clint Evans, M. J. Evans, Weslee Wilson, Conner Taylor and Jason Christmas. Honorary escorts will be: Bacon County High School Class of 1967 and Bethany Hospice.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
