Gwendolyn Carter, age 85, of Alma passed away at St. Vincent's Community Hospice in Jacksonville, Florida on Saturday, January 13, 2018 after a short illness. She was born in Bacon County on August 20, 1932 to Joe Gordon Carter and Julie Mildred Davis Carter, her brother Joel Allard Carter, two sisters, Elizara Carter Bland and Alfreida Mavis Carter Smith and an uncle, Thomas George Carter preceded her in death. Ms. Gwen was retired from the Missionary Field after 16 years and was also a retired Nurse. She was a member of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brother, Gary Alexander Carter of Brunswick, GA., a sister, Glenda Patricia Carter Sigurnjak and husband Glenn of Ocean Springs, MS. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20 ^th at 11:00 AM at Corinth Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Parnell Aldridge officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday, January 19 ^th from 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Blake Kildow, Richard Bessent, Cody Kelly, Allen Jones David Sigurnjak and Dawson Jewell. Honorary pallbearers will be; Scott Jewell, Ronnie Crowder, Bruce Smith, Ronnie Kelly, Clay Bland and Brian Jones.
