Obituary

Harry E. Johnson, age 67, of Alma passed away Sunday, November 18th at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late James Arthur Johnson and Lois Lee Johnson and preceded in death by a son, Harrell Johnson, Jr, a brother, Jerry Mack Johnson and two sisters, Brenda and Eula Johnson, a brother-in-law, Delmar Miller and a sister-in-law, Gwen Henderson Johnson. Harry retired from CSX Railroad after forty years and was a member or New Vision Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Eva Crosby Johnson, a son, Chad Johnson (Amy), two daughters, Lisa Newberry (Gary) all of Alma and Paula Vickers (Chris) of Douglas, one sister, Arthur Nell Miller of Alma, nine grandchildren, April Taylor, Dillon Peacock, Garett, Will & Adam Newberry, Lane, Jace and Mason Johnson of Alma and Caleb Vickers of Douglas and four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 21st at 3:00 PM at New Vision with Rev. Pet Hayes, Rev. Billy Floyd and Rev. Mark Barth officiating. The body will be carried to the church at 2:00 PM to lie in state. Interment will follow in Pine Lawn Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening between 6 and 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Brandon Lee, Steve Lee, David H. Lee, Ray Hancock, Edwin Lewis and Kevin Eason. Honorary pallbearers will be; Class of 1963 and all others in attendance.
