Obituary

Herbert Glynn (Herb) Brown, age 66, of Alma died peacefully at his home early Friday morning September 19th, 2014 after an extended illness. He was a native of Hawkinsville, GA but had lived in Bacon County most of his life. He was son of the late Peter Festus Brown and Maude Durrance Brown also he was preceded in death by two sisters, Faye Fountain and Dean Brown. Herb served our country in the U S Marine Corp and was in the Viet Nam War. He was of the Church of God Faith.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty Nettles Brown of Alma, two sons, Robbie Brown (Michelle) of Baxley, Stacy Brown (Julie) of Alma, two sisters, Elise Parrish (Kent) of Fitzgerald and Shelia Hodges of Newbern, GA, three brothers, Robert Brown of Fernandina Beach, FL, Festus Brown of Fitzgerald and Henry Brown of Conyers, GA, four grandchildren, Chasity Brown of Reidesville, GA, Aaron Brown of Baxley, C J and Katelyn Brown of Alma.

Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock in the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Peavy officiating. A eulogy will be delivered by James Henry Carter. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday evening between 6 and 9 P M.

Active pallbearers will be, Harold Burkett, Ronald Wade, Joe Overstreet, Ben Johnson, Morris Johnson and Jack Johnson. All others in attendance will be considered as honorary.
