Howard Carter, Sr., age 87, of Alma passed away April 3, 2022 at Memorial Health Savannah after short illness. He was born on December 2, 1934 in Appling County but had lived in Bacon County for more than 30 years. Mr. Carter was son of the late Zonnie Carter and Verna Rentz Carter. He was a member of the Douglas, Georgia Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Doris Marie Peacock Carter; daughter, Beverly Harper; granddaughter, Brandi Harper and great great grandchild, Lucien Harper. Survivors include three children, Howard Carter, Jr. (Deborah), Annelle Stanfield of Douglas and Connie Carter of Broxton; one sister, Carol Caves of Vidalia; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Rentz officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
