Hughie Smith Whitmire, age 81, of Nicholls passed away at his residence on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 after an extended illness. He was born in Kenific, Oklahoma on February 27, 1937 to the late William Elmer Whitmire and Minnie Mae Richie Whitmire. A daughter, Sandra Elaine Whitmire, two brothers, William E. Whitmire, Jr. and James Arlis Whitmire, four sisters, Marie Shaeber, Estelene Norman, Geneva Wakefield and Loreese Wiseman preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Pam Jones of Nicholls, GA. and Elaine Whitmire of Alma, a sister, Dollie Imogene Burrow (Floyd) of Shafter, CA., 6 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be held Sunday, March 18 ^th at 2:00 PM at Roberts Cemetery.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
