Hugh Monroe Daughtry, age 98, of Alma passed away Friday, December 26th at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Benjamin (Ben) Franklin Daughtry and Rener Jane Sullivan Daughtry and preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Barber Daughtry, a daughter, Kay Daughtry, four sisters, Lou Ella Clark, Mamie Wiliams, Lucinda Jeanette Sweat and Betsy Mosley, three brothers, Son, Dan & Napolit Daughtry,. Hugh was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Waycross # 4502 and served in the US Navy during WWII.
Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Daughtry (Joyce) of Yulee, FL., Fred Daughtry (Candy) of Hardy VA., Clarence Daughtry of Callahan and Jimmy Daughtry (Donna) of Alma, daughter, Elizabeth Daughtry of Alma, 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Russell Cribb of Alma.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29th at 1:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Carver officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Aron, Wade, Eric and Kevin Daughtry, Tyler Horton and Dakota Stubbs. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
