"Ike" Dewey Hayes, age 62, of Alma passed away Friday, September 4th at Comfort Care Hospice in Baxley after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Walter Herman Hayes and Gladys Lee Hayes. Ike was preceded in death by two children, Dewey Hayes, Jr. and Ronald Hayes, and two brothers, Herman Hayes and Edward "Bud" Hayes.

Survivors include a daughter, Kandice Turner (Mike) of Hickox, GA., one brother, Therman "Pet" Hayes (Janice) of Alma, one sister, Georgia Hall of Hazlehurst, GA., four grandchildren, Leslie Crews of Waynesville GA., Tiffany Allen of Statesboro, GA., Sarah Turner of Hickox, GA., and Michael Turner of Hickox, GA. and one great-grandchild, Lanie Crews of Waynesville, GA.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 7th at 11:00 AM at New Vision Church with Rev. Chuck Allen, Rev. David Herdon and a eulogy given by Kandice Turner. The body will be carried to the church at 10:00 AM to lie in state. Interment will follow in Mims Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday form 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Joe Boatright, Ricky Boatright, Steve Hutcheson, Neil Rigdon, Doc Hayes and Mike Turner. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
