Irma Mae Wade Carter, age 90, passed away peacefully August 04, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born September 10, 1935, in Bacon County to the late Archie Payton Wade and Retta Carter Wade. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Liston Lawton Carter; daughter-in-law, Susan Carter; brothers, Jerry Wade, Virgil Wade (Frances), Ed Wade (Winnie) and Aubrey Wade (Ivos); and brother-in-law, Darrell Douglas.
She was a matriarch of Ten Mile Baptist Church and Sunday School Teacher for many years.
She is survived by her sons, Glenn, Sr. and Bruce Carter (Aleisa), both of Alma; daughter, Debbie Williams (Tim) of Alma; grandchildren, Mark Bowles, Chris Bowles (Jana), Austin Williams (Logan), Glenn Carter, Jr. (Staci), Miranda Carter Kaiser (Krieg), Krista Carter; twelve great-grandchildren, four step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren; her sister, Nellie Wade Douglas; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday August 07, 2026, at Ten Mile Baptist Church at 11 AM with Rev. Brian Gill and Wayne Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Ten Mile Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 10 AM until service time.
Active pallbearers include Mark Bowles, Austin Williams, Blaine Bowles, Chris Bowles, Glenn Carter, Jr, and Krieg Kaiser. All in attendance will be considered honorary pallbearers.
