Jake Hyers, age 71, of Alma passed away suddenly Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Bacon County Hospital. He was born on May 7, 1945 to the late Henry Hyers and Elmira Johnson Hyers. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, several aunts and uncles and cousins. He was retired from Pike Electric and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie Johnson Hyers of Alma, two children, Jay Hyers of Augusta, Georgia and Lee Ann Hyers of Alma, three grandchildren, Janna Layne Hyers and Ryker Quittman Hyers of Vidalia, Georgia and Kolten Jake Hyers of Harlem, Georgia; also his mother and father in law, Roy Pete Johnson and Verlene Johnson of Alma.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 16th at 11:00 AM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. R. C. James and Rev. Brian Tyre officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until funeral time.
Active pallbearers will be; Jay Boatright, Doug Boatright, Austin Boatright, Enum Hyers, Nawin Hyers and Patrick Hyers. Honorary pallbearers will be; Jerry & Alice Beasley, Howard & Joannie Herrington and Tommy & Rhonda Metts.
