James "Cody" Burkhalter, age 58, passed away suddenly on April 29, 2025. He was the son of the late Robert Cecil Burkhalter. He is also preceded in death by his brother, Gary Burkhalter; sister, Denise Burkhalter; and niece, Shundra Vickery.

Cody is survived by his loving wife, Tami Holland Burkhalter; two sons, Joshua Bryant (Haley) of Blackshear, and Christopher Brown (Catie) of Alma; two daughters , Christy Tatum (Stacy) of Alma, and Alana King (Tyler) of Mershon. He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Cassius Brown, Lilly Burkhalter, Conner Bramlett, Katie Jackson, Haley Bramlett, and Terry Bryant, and Jai'ceon Stewart, and a great-grandfather to Jackson White.

He is also survived by his mother, Colleen Crawford Burkhalter of Patterson, and one sister, Shane Vickery (Lyndell) of Patterson.

Cody served as General Manager at Jerry Js in Waycross for many years and was a dedicated member and deacon of Jamestown Baptist Church.

He is a native of Blackshear, GA and graduated from Pierce County High School in 1985. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His passions in life included his children, grandchildren and finding every shark's tooth possible. His faith led him to the Lord and that was his greatest passion of all. Cody saw the beauty in all things and people, he never met a stranger. Cody would give you the shirt off his back and his last penny, everyone who met him and knew him, knew what a wonderful and gracious person he was.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Jamestown Baptist Church, 3800 ABC Ave., Waycross, GA. Visitation with the family will be at the church from 2 PM until service time.
