James Wade Burnette, age 74, of Alma passed away Friday May 15th after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Oscar Thomas Burnette and Mamie Mae Rewis Burnette. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Jesse Houston Burnette and a sister Mildred Gay.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Louise Burnette, son David Burnette (Tannye) of Buford, Ga., two daughters Donna McDaniel (Jerry) and June Gunning of Dacula, Ga., four Brothers Howard (Janice), Roy, Larry (Linda) Burnette of Alma, Ga., and Gary (Janie) Burnette of Cummins, Ga., two sisters Martha Gene Gay of Callahan, Fl. and Patsy Thompson of Alma, Ga. Eight grandchildren James, Brandon, Jacob, Joey, Lawton, William, Patrick, and Jesse, also 5 great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18th in the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home at 11 AM, with Rev. Lang Ingram and Rev. Stan Long officiating. Interment will follow in Rigdon Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be Brandon and Jacob McDaniel, Joey and William Gunning, Patrick and Lawton Burnette, and Cory and Dustin Gay. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
