James Steven Carter, age 86, of Alma passed away October 20, 2022 at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born August 13, 1936 in Bacon County to the late Jessie Carter and Lillian Hollingsworth Carter. Mr. Carter was a member of Corinth Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Sue Smith Carter, and two brothers, Reggie Carter and Wyton Carter. Survivors include his son, Larry Carter & Kay of Alma, GA.; three grandchildren, Michael and Kristi Carter of Westgreen, Lara and Colby Barber of Alma and Leve and Dara Boatright of Alma and three great-grandchildren, Emma Carter, Ethan Carter and AvaKate Kotongan.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 24, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Parnell Aldridge and Rev. Randy Turner officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday from 1:00 PM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Teddy Varnadore, Brad Murphy, Greg Murphy, Levi Boatright, Robby Smith and Jay Mattox. Honorary pallbearers will be; Staff of Twin Oaks Nursing Home and Staff of Dr. Harrison Carter's Office.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
