James Edward Davis, Sr., age 72, of Alma passed away Monday, December 12th at his residence after an extended illness. He was son of the late Dan Davis, Sr. and Cillar Taylor Davis and preceded in death by four brothers, Dan Davis, Jr., Harvey, Johnny and Clarence Davis.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Shirley A. Reynolds Davis of Alma, two sons, James "Bo Bo" (Tammy) of Alma and Stacy Dan Davis (Kathy) of Guyton, GA., two daughters, Betty Ann Lightsey of Alma and Sandy White (Tony) of Baxley, GA., one brother, Carl Davis (Audine) of Alma, six sisters, Melba Everly (Frank) of Melbourne, FL., Connie Morris (Larry), Linda Dean (Cecil) and Nola Tanner of Waycross, Bonnie Touchton (Lee) Hampton and Dorothy Hawkins of Douglas; also 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 15th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Pet Hayes and Rev. R. B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow in the Jordan Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Tim, Josh, Eric and T. J. Davis Brandon Newberry and Ricky Boatright. Honorary pallbearers will be; Boatright Trucking, Bacon County Hospital Staff, Darrell Davis, Jeffery Davis, Holton Logging and Jimmy and Johnny Nobles.
