James Franklin (Frank) Medders, age 78, of Alma died at his home early Sunday morning March 3rd, 2013 after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Charley Clifton Medders and Mamie Lee Allen Medders and was also preceded in death by his wives, Loretta Johnson Medders and Vernell Surrency Medders, 5 brothers, Robert (Bud) Medders, Vernon, Doyle, Albert and Charles (Buddy) Medders, 2 sisters, Ruth Sweat and Glenda Sue Medders. Frank was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include 5 sons, Wendell (Wink) Medders (Regina), Charley Medders (June), Paul Medders, John Medders (Brenda), Jason Medders all of Alma, 3 daughters, Wanda Rigby (Larry), Brenda Holton, Tammy Burnette all of Alma, a step daughter, Debbie Herrin of Atlanta, a brother, Tommy Medders (Sandra) of Alma, 3 sisters, Ruby Nell Taylor, Reba Jean Sweat, Reggie Hutchinson (Quinton) all of Alma, 21 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Stan Long and Pastor Lynn Music officiating and a eulogy by Jerry Sweat. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening between 6 and 9 P M.
Active pallbearers will be, Christopher, Jamie and Ken Rigby, Audie Holton, Tyler Sellers, Scott, Kevin and Michael Medders. Honorary will be, John Larry, Jerry and Roy Sweat, Eva Johnson, Judy Davis, Ricky Taylor, Hip Boatright, Ray and Roger Medders, Eddie Crapps, Dale Morris, Henry Sweat, Keith Taylor and Tommy Joe Sellers.
