James Shelton Lee

November 22, 1955 – March 28, 2025

James "Jabber" Shelton Lee, 69, of Nicholls, GA, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, at his home after an extended illness. Born on November 22, 1955, he was the son of the late Eldridge Lee and Gwendolyn Taylor Starling, and the maternal grandson of Maloy and Odessa Taylor.

James was a devoted husband to Rhonda Lee, and a cherished father to Kelly Joslyn (David) of Bishop, GA, Carrie Lee (Copie Burnett) of Savannah, GA, Cassie Price of Alma, GA, and Brittany Pittman (Billy) of Hawkinsville, GA. He was also a proud stepfather to Cristina Box (Clay) of Atkinson, GA. Known as "Papa" to his 10 beloved grandchildren, James found joy in his family and was a constant source of love and wisdom.

A retired blueberry farmer, James worked the land with dedication and passion for many years. He built strong friendships through his work and was deeply respected in his community. He touched the lives of many as a kind and generous man, and will be missed by all who knew him.

James was preceded in death by both his parents and grandparents. He is survived by brother and best friend, Tony (Rhonda) Lee of Nicholls, Perry (Marsha) Starling of Alma, and Tammie (Jay) Hayden of Livingston, AL.  He leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a legacy of love, laughter, and a lifetime of memories. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday evening, March 31st from 6-8pm at Crosby Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Lee's Chapel Baptist Church at 10am on Tuesday, April 1st, with Jimmy Miles and R.B. Gaskins officiating.  Burial to follow at High Bluff Cemetery in Hoboken, GA, with Shane Howell officiating. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life and the joy he brought to those around him. Pallbearers are James Stewart, Edward Padgett, Ricky "Hipp" Boatright, Cordie Rigby, Lance Rigby, Terry Miles, Kevin Eason, and Leonardo Badillo. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Lee, Jerry Sweat, Ricky Taylor, Andy Wade, Neil Boatright, Jerald Anderson, Thomas (T-Boy) Carter, and Hugh Beasley, as well as the congregants of Friendship Church and Old Pine Grove Church.
