IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James Emerson
Peacock
September 19, 1953 – August 31, 2022
James Emerson Peacock, age 68, of Alma, was called home to be with the Lord on August 31,
2022. Born on September 19, 1953 in Jesup, Georgia to the late Walter Emerson and Jean
McNeill Peacock, James was a life-long resident of Bacon County and attended both New Hope
Southern Congregational Methodist Church and First Baptist Church of Alma, Georgia. James
worked in construction, until a work-related accident left him permanently disabled. Despite his
disability and many other health challenges over the years, James was a living miracle – an
example of not only the physical healing power of God but of the redemptive work of Christ
Jesus in one's life. From the accident, James accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior.
While he was still able, James wanted others to know Jesus loved them as well. James kept a
prayer journal daily and would frequently stop to ask people how he could pray for them.
Regardless of his circumstances, His faith in Christ remained steadfast.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Jaime Barnes-Jones. He is
survived by his son, Jonathan David Peacock and wife Catherine of Dublin; one brother, Walter
M. Peacock and wife Barbara of Alma; four sisters, Sandra (Quillion) Taylor of Alma, Carol Carter
of Baxley, Wanda Williams of Douglas, Lisa (Vern) Peacock-Brown of Dubai, UAE; and five
grandchildren, A. Barnes, S. Jones, W. Jones, L. Jones, and M. Jones.
A time of visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at
