James Roy Burnette, age 71, of Alma passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. He was born on October 24, 1945 in Alma to late Oscar Thomas Burnette and Mammie Mae Rewis Burnette. His wife Sandra Sue Burnette, two grandchildren, Brandy Lia Dutton and Justin Allen Hawkins, a brother, James W. Burnette and a sister, Mildred Gay preceded him in death. He was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Buford, GA.

Mr. Burnette is survived by two sons, James Robert Burnette (Cindy), Bobby Thomas Burnette, three step children, Stanley Burrell (Laura) and Evelyn L. Burrell all of Alma and Theresa Ann Freeman (Steven) of Cummings, GA., three brothers, Larry Burnette and Howard Burnette of Alma and Gary Burnette of Cummings, GA., two sisters, Patsy Thompson of Alma and Martha Jean Gay of Callahan, FL.; also 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 19 ^th at 11:00 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Pet Hayes officiating. Internment will follow in Rigdon Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:30 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Big Greg Burnette, Little Greg Burnette, Bruce Burnette, David Burnette, Jack Humpries and Gene Gay. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
