Lamar Rozier, age 77, of Alma died Thursday February 19th, 2015 at St Joseph-Chandler Hospital in Savannah after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Levy Lamar Rozier and Bessie Douglas Rozier and was also preceded in death by a son, Henry E. Taylor, two brothers-in-law, Ray Lopez and Dennis Hall, a nephew Greg Lopez.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Joyce Horne Rozier of Alma, a son, Larry Taylor (Linda) of Albany, Ga., daughter, Nancy Taylor (Joe) of Alma, one sister, Shirley Lopez of Savannah, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Feb. 22nd at 2:00 PM at the Alma First Baptist Church with Rev. Lance Wade, Rev. Robert Varnadore and Rev. Eric Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Saturday from 6 to 8 PM. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 P M to lie in state.
Active pallbearers will be; Dale Morris, Bill Johnson, Darrell Douglas, Mike Wheeler, Mike Lee and Jerry Bennett. Honorary will be, classmates of 1955, Jeffery Anderson, Gene Davis, Jason Taylor, Gordon Stephens, Wendell Hart, Zach Johnson, Morris Johnson, Ricky Gilliard, Neal Boatright and Jason Jarrard.
