James Dwight Smart, Jr., 73 of Alma passed away on May 5, 2024 at his home.  Mr. Smart was born November 19, 1950 and was the son of the late James Dwight Smart, Sr. and Eunice Dixie Sweat Smart.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Patsy Avery Smart of Alma; sons, James Erron (Lisa) Smart of Nashville, Adam Troy (Pam) Smart of Alma. 5 grandchildren, Avery & Addison Smart of Nashville and Morgan, Shelby and Kayelyn Smart of Alma. Sister, Joann (Donald) Wade of Alma, Reba Griffin of Baxley and Kathy Davis of Waycross, along with a host of nieces and nephews and his cat, Lukie.. Mr. Smart was preceded in death by his sisters, Sandy Straley and Elaine Mann; nephew, David Mann and niece, Rhonda Carter.

Mr. Smart loved God with all his heart and loved attending Southside Church of God, where he was a member and served on the Pastor's Council, as a Sunday School and Choir Leader for many years. He enjoyed singing and in his retirement, could be found at Twin Oaks singing for the residents. If you knew Mr. Smart, you know he never met a stranger and loved to talk.  He also loved his family dearly, especially his 5 grandkids. Mr. Smart was known as a man who loved to "tinker" on old cars and engines, especially his 1969 Ford Bronco.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, (May 11, 2024) at 11:00 AM at Southside Church of God with Rev. David Deen, Rev. Mark Carver and Rev. R. M. Warren officiating. Interment will follow in Corinth Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be Keith Durrence, Jeff Carter, Cleve Carter, Lane Wade, Harry Davis, III, Shane Taylor, Morgan Smart and Harvey Williford. Honorary pallbearers will be Bacon County High School Class of 1968, Linda Sue Rewis, Sammy & Connie Walton, Theo & Dwayne Clark, Neil & Debra Medders, Richard & Lonnie Faye Vaughn and Danny & Stephanie Harrell.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
