Obituary

James (Jake) Wesley Stewart, age 79, of Alma passed away Saturday, March 19th at his residence after an extended illness. He was a native of Nicholls but had lived in Bacon County for many years. Jake was son of the late Julius Elliott Stewart and Minnie Lee Tanner Stewart and preceded in death by a son, Rocky Willingham, a brother, Johnny Stewart and two sisters, Joanne Adams and Suzie Miller.

He was a Member of Ten Mile Baptist Church, New York and Scottish Rites, Alee Shriners and Charter Member of Satilla Shriners Club; The Masonic Lodge #56 and a member of the Cattleman's Association, and a current Member of the VFW Post 4256. James served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era and served in the Fleet Resource Unit then retired after 20 years of service. He was also a commercial truck driver

Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Jordan Stewart of Alma, one son, Michael Stewart of North Georgia, four daughters, Anissa Renee Hutto (Eric) of Alma, Penelope Borelli and Lynda Dickey and Victoria Yanez of New Zealand, two brothers, Bobby Stewart of Jacksonville, FL. and Tom Stewart of Yulee, FL., a sister, Wilma Taylor (Watson) of Jacksonville, FL.; also several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren survive.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 23rd, at 2:00 PM at Ten Mile Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Hayes, Rev. Bryan Gill and Rev. Julius Stewart officiating and eulogies will be given by; Tayler Hutto, Liz Hutto and Anna Mock. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full Military Honors and Masonic Service. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Austin Allen, Cody Thrift, Stephen and Kevin Harrison, Jacob Carter, Aubrey Carter, Sloan Brigman and Anthony Dixon. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
