James Thomas Taylor, Sr, ( J. T.) age 76, of Alma died at his home Wednesday morning September 25, 2013 after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Minor Taylor and Annie Grace Butler Taylor and was also preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann Braddy Taylor. J. T. worked at Lee's Drug Store for many years and retired from Sears after 33 years of employment. He was attending Alma Tenth Street Church of God.
Survivors include two sons, James Thomas Taylor, Jr. and Brad Taylor (Casey) of Alma, two daughters, Teresa Hart Hutcheson (Michael) of Douglas and Crystal Kirkland (Tony) of Alma, six grandchildren, Jeremy Taylor of Alma, Justin Hart of Ambrose, Matthew Taylor of Douglas, Halen & Caitlyn Kirkland of Alma and Brantley Taylor of Alma; also 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 27th at 2:00 PM at Alma Tenth Street Church of God with Rev. C.T. Peavy and Rev. Travis Peavy officiating. The body will be carried to the church at 1:00 PM to lie in state. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Jeremy Taylor, Justin Hart, Ben Boatright, Tim Youngblood, Brad Taylor and Charles Holland. Honorary pallbearers will be; Class of 1957.
