James Wallace (WALLLY GATOR) Williamson, age 69 of Alma died at his home Monday afternoon June 30th, 2014 after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Jewell Winston Williamson and Agnes Douglas Williamson and was also preceded in death by a wife, Elizabeth Denise Williamson and a daughter, Sheri Lynn Williamson. Wally Gator was a well known musician in this area.
Survivors include his wife, Gale O'Quinn Williamson of Alma, two sons, Noel Williamson (Lacey}, Kenneth Wayne Williamson (Debbie) all of Alma, a daughter, Kelley Williamson of Alma, a twin sister, Wilma Shores (Sammy) of Alma. Also nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Wilson officiating, a eulogy will be delivered by John Bennett and Wally's sister, Wilma will also be speaking. Interment will follow in Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be, Tim Williams, Terry Hires, Little Larry Barber, Sidney Douglas, Randy Douglas and Berry Martin. All musician friends will be honorary pallbearers.
