Janice Shaver Simmons, age 66, of Alma passed away July 13, 2024 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after an extended illness. She was born September 5, 1957 in Bacon County to the late M. C. Holton and Kathleen Rewis Holton. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry "Bulldog" Holton and sister, Wendy Holton.

Mrs. Janice was a member of Mount Pleasant Church.

Survivors include her husband, James Shaver; two children, Michael Sheldon Simmons ( future wife Suzanne Thrift) and Gwen McLellan; brother, Jody Holton (Michelle); sister, Carolyn Clements (Pee Wee); six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Eason officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Wednesday morning from 10:00 AM until service time.

Active pallbearers will be Landon Medders, Kaden Simmons, Audie Holton, Joshua Holton, Ryan Shaver and Kayden Wilson. Health Department Home Care and all others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
