Jason Carl Rigdon, age 47, of Alma passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Born on June 9, 1974 in Homestead, Florida but had lived most of his life in Bacon County. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J. M. and Hazel Rigdon, maternal grandparents, Talmadge & Eula Lee Thornton and brother in law, Manny Grünewald.
Jason was a graduate of Bacon County High School Class of 1992; Graduate of Georgia Southern University and was employed with the Bacon County Board of Education for 24 years where he served as the Assistant Superintendent.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Misty Boatright Rigdon; two daughters, Jayci Rigdon (Konnor Cutrer) and Jayden Rigdon (Drew Dowdney); parents, Jimmy (Wanda) Rigdon and Erma (John) Rothanzl; sister, Renae Grünewald of Germany; sister in law, Amy (Zeth) Tanner; two nephews and niece he called his own, Ryland, Asher and Ava Grace Boatright; two nephews and one niece from Germany, Christopher & Patrick Grünewald and Rebecca (Phillip) Mohr; two great-nephews, Theo Mohr and Florian Grünewald. Also a special young man he claimed as his son, Payton Wade and many more young men and women he called his kids over the years of coaching and teaching.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the New Vision Life Center with Pastor Pet Hayes and Pastor Calvin Morris officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mask and social distancing will be required.
Due to the increase in Covid cases in our area we've decided not have a public visitation for Jason on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to FNB South to the Jason Rigdon Scholarship Fund.
Active pallbearers will be; Jason Gilliard, Andy Cothern, Joe Boatright, Bill Arney, Perry Starling, Jim Tucker, Grant Gilliard and Slade Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be; Bacon County Board of Education Administrators, Directors and Central Office Staff, 2004 State Champion Baseball Team, Eve Thomas and Linda McQuaig.
Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
