Jean Tanner Chaffin, age 86, of Alma passed away January 31, 2022 at the Bacon County Hospital after a short illness. Born in Coffee County on November 4, 1935 to Albert Theodore Tanner, Sr. and Eula Lo Cribb Tanner.  She was retired from Satilla REMC.

In addition to her parents she was precede in death by her husband, Morris H. Chaffin, Sr.; son, Morris H. Chaffin, Jr., brother, Albert T. Tanner, Jr. and sister, Wynette Thomas. Survivors include son, Larry Tanner of Nicholls, four grandchildren, Morris Chaffin, III, Christy Chaffin, Samuel Tanner, Jacob Tanner; six great-grandchildren, Ridge Lewis, Graycee and Gavin McElroy, Harrison Driggers, Macie Moon and Victoria Chaffin; and three sisters, Myrtice Gustafson of Green Cove Springs, Ruth Rewis of Douglas and Marie Wood of Callahan.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Bishop R. B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow in Meeks Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Thursday from 12:00 PM until funeral time.

Active pallbearers will be; Samuel Tanner, Jacob Tanner, Ridge Lewis, Daniel Burkett, Calvin Thomas and Bruce Thomas. Honorary pallbearers will be; Ricky Gilliard, past and present employees of Satilla REMC and FNB South.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
