Jean Johnson Chancey (Illa Jean) age 88 of Alma died early Monday morning October 19th, 2015 at her home after an extended illness. She was a native of Bacon County daughter of the late John Randall Johnson and Nora Douglas Johnson Sibley and was preceded in death by her husband John Ravenell (J R) Chancey, a brother and sister-in-law Douglas Odell Johnson and wife Virginia, a granddaughter Allison McDaniel. Illa Jean retired from Georgia Natural Gas Company after 26 years of employment.
Survivors are two daughters Beverly McDaniel of Waycross, Lisa Lovell (Jeffery P.) of Alma, two step grandchildren Jeffery E. Lovell, Martha Cardell U S Marines in San Diego, CA, nephews Charles Randall Johnson (Pam), Sunny, Ben and Casey of Jacksonville, Billy Chancey (Eula) of Alma, Larry (Pat) Chancey of Daytona a niece, Connie Johnson of Alma, Judy Nease (Darvin) of Savannah, and a special cousin Bill Johnson (Linda) of Alma.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 3:00 o'clock at Pine Level Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Eric Brown, Rev. Wayne Miracle and a eulogy by Bill Johnson. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery on Highway 203. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening between 6 and 8 P M.
Active pallbearers will be Billy Chancey, Larry (Pat) Chancey, Sean Turner, Cameron Johnson, Lindon Brantley and Herman Ryals. Honorary will be Advantage Home Health Care Employee's and Hospice Care Options of Fitzgerald Employee's.
