Jewel P. Overstreet, age 76, of Alma died suddenly Monday night at the Bacon County Hospital. She was a native of Holly Ridge, NC but had lived in Alma for many years. Jewel was daughter of the late Vance Parker and Lila Padgett Parker and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lathan and J T Parker. She was retired from Jewel's 7 – 11 after 27 years ownership and was a member of the Alma United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Joe Overstreet of Alma, two sons, Michael Overstreet (Janet) of Alma, Joe Overstreet (Karmen) of Fisher, IN., four brothers, Adrian, Cecil, and Vance Parker of Holly Ridge, NC., and Johnny Parker of Duncan, OK., five sisters, Pauline Padgett, Hazel Bush, Carolee Lee, Marie Crew and Judy Graffis all of Holly Ridge, NC.; also 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 7th at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Crosby, Rev. Lang Ingram and Rev. Tim Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Satilla Baptist Church Cemetery in Jeff Davis County. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 8 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Kris, Kevin, Reed, Chuck and Doug Overstreet and Steve Fuller. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
