John Auston Butterworth, age 41, of Alma died suddenly early Saturday morning February 15th from injuries in a vehicle accident. He was a native of Marietta, GA and had lived in Alma since 2012. John was son of the late Billy Auston Butterworth and Helen Mary Gravely Butterworth, was employed with Burnette Automotive of Alma and was a member of New Vision Congregational Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Alicia Kay Harrington Butterworth of Alma, two sons, Johnathan Butterworth of Roger, AK, Samuel Auston Butterworth of Alma, a daughter, Abbigail Kaitlynn Butterworth of Alma, a brother Greg Butterworth of Baker, FL, a granddaughter, Ember Butterworth of Roger, AK. and step mother, Virginia Butterworth of Temple, Ga.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at New Vision Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Pet Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends Monday at the church between 10:00 A M and funeral time.
Active pallbearers will be, Bruce and Greg Burnette, Terril Copeland, Ronnie Downing, Lance Johnson and Keith Powell. Honorary will be, Leann Moore, Deanna King, Robert Faulk, Janet Johnson, Victor Otwell, Mike Morgan and Terry Matthews.
