John E. "J.E." Redding , age 79 of Nicholls passed away peacefully Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born in Brantley County on August 16, 1938 to the late Edgar C. Redding and Effie Eugenia Lee Redding and also preceded in death by three sisters Doris Crews, Elvera O'Berry and Virginia Strickland. J. E. was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean Rowell Redding, daughter, Lori Lamb and husband Kenny of Nicholls, a grandson Kendall E. Lamb of West Green, two brothers Eugene Redding (Louise) and Durwood Redding, six sisters Effie Mae Strickland, Evelyn Dowling, Louise Dawson (Billy), Pearl Boatright (Earl), Bernitia Thomas (Rayford), and special nephew and niece Gavin and Annalyn Johnson.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 25 ^th at 11:00 AM at Dry Creek Baptist Church with Rev. David Davis and Rev. Pet Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Hall Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday evening between 6 and 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Gavin and Austin Johnson, Tony McKinnon, Sidney Lee, Jamie Johnson, James Jordan and Anthony Lee. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.
