John W. Dyal, Sr., age 69, of Nicholls died at his home late Sunday night December 14th, 2014 after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County but had lived in Nicholls most of his life. He was son of the late Warnie Lee Dyal and Donna Lee Hogan Morris and was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jimmy Ray Dyal and Freddie Paul Dyal, father-in-law and mother-in-law Noah and Linnie Foster, a brother-in-law, William Greer. John was retired from Milliken after 35 years of employment, served in the U S Army during the Viet Nam War and was a member of the Nicholls First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Linda Lou Foster Dyal of Nicholls, two sons, Scotty Ivey (Lisa) of Alma, John Dyal, Jr. (Jennifer) of Vero Beach, FL, two brothers, Billy Mac Dyal (Amelia) of Alma, Warnie Lee Dyal, Jr. (Cathy) of Alma, a sister, Mary Lee Greer of Nicholls, six grandchildren, Skyler, Chance, Alana and Alexa Ivey, Kayla Dyal and Colton Laudermilk.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock at the Nicholls First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Campbell and Rev. Pet Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening between 6 and 9 P M. Wednesday the body will be carried to the church at 1:00 P M to lie in state.
Active pallbearers will be, Josh, Anthony and Kevin Foster, Jonathan and Jason Daniel and James Woodard. All others in attendance will be considered as honorary.
