John Pinckney Floyd, age 95, of Alma passed away Saturday, January 31st at the Ware County Hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Flowery Branch, Georgia but had lived in Alma for many years. John was son of the late John P. Floyd, Sr. and Mary Margaret McMurray and preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Norma Lorraine Jordan Floyd and a brother, William Floyd. He was a member of Pelzar Presbyterian Church and New Vision Church and served in the US Navy during WWII.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly F. Kellett of Dalton, Ga. and Michal Lockaby (Freddy) of Alma, brother, Jarnette Floyd of Williamston, SC., sister, Etolia Beam of Aiken, SC., 4 grandchildren, Erin Arledge (Bruce), Sherrie Kenemer, Leigh Jones (Wes) and Amiee Edmund (Charlie) and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3rd at 2:00 PM at New Vision Church with Rev. Pet Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at New Vision Church from 1:00 PM until funeral time.
Active pallbearers will be; Zachary & Jackson Foster, Blake & Trey Kenemer, Wes & Conner Jones, Bruce Arledge and Charlie Edmund. Honorary pallbearers will; Harry Johnson, Bryon Ray, Eugene Boatright and Cam Wheeler.
