John Rodney Mullis, age 56, formerly of Alma, passed away on January 14, 2025 at his home in Quitman, Georgia after an extended illness. He was born in Coffee County on April 19, 1968 to the late John Franklin and Judy Meeks Mullis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by maternal grandparents Linton Meeks and Mildred Meeks Powell and papa George Powell. Also, paternal grandparents John and Pauline Johnson Mullis; uncle Jerry Ray Meeks.

After college Rodney worked for the Georgia Department of Revenue as a Tax Collector for 16 years. After the death of his mother with cancer he decided to go back to school and fulfill his dream of being a nurse by receiving his Bachelor of Nursing degree. He then worked over 13 years as a nurse and loved every minute of it.

Rodney loved owning, breeding and showing championship animals. 4-H and FFA was cows and hogs later it was his championship dogs and horses.

Rodney is survived by his dearest friend JoAnn Johnson whom he called his "other mother" also by special friend and neighbor Joan Reeves. Several cousins also survive.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
