John Stewart, 52, of Dixie Union died suddenly in Waycross on April 22nd, 2022. John was born on November 23rd, 1969 in Columbia, SC. During his early childhood, John and his family lived in several locations in South Carolina and Arkansas before moving back to his parents' native Southeast Georgia, settling in Dixie Union in 1981.  He was a 1987 graduate of Ware County High School, and had been employed by CSX Railroad for the past 24 years and was a member of the Local Union # 625. John was a member of Dry Creek Baptist Church in Nicholls, serving as a prayer leader.

John's father, Johnny Stewart and brother Chad Stewart, preceded him in death. His mother, Virue Stewart of Dixie Union and two daughters that he doted on, Georgia and Dixie Stewart survive him. John was the grandson of the late Grady and Vienna Boatright of Nicholls, and Julian and Eula Stewart of Alma.

Family will hold visitation services on Monday, April 25th from 6 to 9pm at Crosby Funeral Home of Alma, and funeral services will be held at Dry Creek Baptist Church at 2pm on Tuesday, April 26th.  Interment with graveside services will follow the funeral at the Stewart Cemetery in Alma.

Pallbearers will be: James Jordan, Randy Taylor, Shawn Jordan, Jeffrey Stewart, Steve Thompson, and Chris Stewart. Employees of CSX Railroad and all members of Dry Creek Baptist Church in attendance will be considered honorary escort.
