John Larry Sweat, age 75, of Alma passed away suddenly January 1, 2023 at the Bacon County Hospital.

Mr. Sweat was a native of Bacon County and son of the late John P. " J. P." Sweat and Ruth Medders Sweat. He was owner and operator of Sweat's Battery and Electric Sweat Transportation, a member of Alma First Baptist Church and was a member of the Bacon County Hospital Board.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Willa Mae Wilson Sweat; two sons, John R. Sweat (Candy) and Levy Joe Sweat (Renee); four grandchildren, John Alston Sweat (Ashley), Sydney Sweat, Lexie Sweat and Landon "Buddy Roe" Sweat all of Alma; three great-grandchildren, Harper, Hamp and Hattie Sweat of Alma; five brothers, Roy Sweat of Nicholls, Jerry Sweat (Lon Ann), David Sweat, Henry L. Sweat and Patrick Sweat all of Alma; six sisters, Rhonda Howell (Ray) of Blackshear, June Jeffrey of Deland, FL., Lynn Music, Mary Lee Sweat of Alma, Audrey Skidmore of Sanford, FL and Marie Henry of Alma.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Alma Church of God with Pastor Travis Peavy and Pastor Pet Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Roy Sweat, Jerry Sweat, Henry L. Sweat, David Sweat, Jimmy Sweat, Jerry Boatright, Patrick Sweat, Alston Sweat and Landon Sweat. Honorary pallbearers will be; Past employees of Sweat Transportation and Sweat Battery and Electric, Big Brother's Sunday Class, The Class of 1965 and the Bacon County Hospital Board.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
