Johnny "John" M. Thomas, age 68, of Alma passed away Wednesday, February 11th at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Cohen Thomas and Vernie Christmas Thomas. John was preceded in death by two brothers, Jake and Royce Thomas and a sister, Joyce Benson. He was a member of Big Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Yvonne Douglas Thomas, son, Joseph Steven Aldridge, one brother, Jessie Thomas (Jan) and four grandchildren, Austin, Kaitlyn and Malinda Vaughn and Joseph Aldridge, Jr. all of Alma.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 13th at 11:00 AM at Big Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Stone and Rev. Mark Ledbetter officiating and eulogy given by Tommy Davis. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday from 6 to 9 PM.
