Johnnie Samuel " Buddy" Miles, Jr. age 77, of Alma passed away Friday, February 26th at Twin Oaks Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Johnnie Shirah Miles and Lois Padgett and preceded in death by a sister Joyce Taylor. Buddy was a retired farmer and a member of the Bacon County Young Farmers and Red Oak Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Venola Griffin Miles of Alma, a daughter Suzy Dixon (Jamie) of Alma, a son John Robert Miles (Linda) of Mershon, life long friend and brother, Winston Miles (Sarah) of Alma, three step children, Kevin Moore (Delonda), Eric Moore (Kristy) and Renee Carter (Chris) all of Alma, 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and 5 step grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 29th at 2:00 PM at Red Oak Church with Rev. Daniel Harris, Rev. Mike Taylor, Rev. Ron Ross, Rev. Robbie Gill, Rev. Jimmy Miles and Rev. R. B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Church Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Jackson, Sam and John Lander Miles, Will & Jacob Carter, Jarret Moore and Travis Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be; Red Oak Sr. Adult Sunday School Class, Joyce's Coffee Shop, Tommy Metts, Ervin Cason, Jerry Lightsey, Jimmy Turner, Danny Bruner, Dwight Smith, R. B. Gaskins and the Bacon County Young Farmers.
