Johnnie David (J.D.) Woodard, age 83, of Nicholls passed away July 7, 2024 at Community Hospice in Vidalia after an extended illness. He was born July 20, 1940 in Wheeler County to the late David B. Woodard and Sally Barrow Woodard.

Mr. Woodard was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Annie Bell Dyal Woodard, two children Melinda Sue Gieger and Wendell Woodard, grandson, Jason Woodard,

brother, Walter Woodard, sisters, Laura McMillan and Bertha.

Survivors include his son, Sammy Woodard (Vickey) of Collins, brother, William Woodard of Adel, 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 11:00 AM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Little John. Interment will follow in Reddy Branch Church Cemetery in Broxton. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral Thursday morning from 10:00 AM until service time.

Active pallbearers will be James Woodard, Ricky McMillan, Bobby Bagley, Keegan Tanner, Ricky Gilliard and Johnny Thompson. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
