Johnny Dewayne (Sam) Surrency, age 59, of Nicholls, passed away suddenly after an extended illness at the Bacon County Hospital. John was a native of Bacon County, a member of the Nicholls Church of God of Prophesy, and the son of the late John E. Surrency. A brother Mitchell Surrency also precedes him in death.

Survivors include his mother Velma Barnes Rigby, a brother Cordie Rigby (Brandi), 3 nephews, Lance Rigby, Calvin Slade Rigby, and Joey Rigby, and cousin, Vickye Norris.

Funeral services will be held Saturday May 4 ^th at 10 AM in the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy James officiating. A eulogy will also be given by Ricky Gilliard. Active pallbearers include Ricky and Jason Gilliard, John, John Jr., and Jason Medders, Lee Cortez, Joe Smith, and Fletcher Hewitt. Honorary escort will be Benny Crews. Internment will follow in Meeks Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday night from 6-8 PM.
