Johnny Israel Griffin, age 68, of Alma died Monday November 25th, 2013 at his home after a short illness. He was a native of Appling County but had lived in Bacon County most of his life. He was son of the late Frank Griffin and Idell Leggett Griffin and was also preceded in death by a brother, Ray Griffin. Johnny was a member of Ebenezeer Advent Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Greg Griffin (Donita ) of Alma, two brothers, Henry Griffin of Waynesboro, GA, J F Griffin of Baxley, six sisters, Wilma Sweatt, Wanell Parker, Janie Batten, Kay Moore and Charlotte Gruber all of Alma and Maxine Martin of Waynesboro, GA, two grandchildren, Lacey and Jesse Griffin of Alma. Also several nieces and nephews survive.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Williams and Rev. Jimmy Miles officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Oak Church Cemetery in Appling County. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening between 6 and 9 P M.
Active pallbearers will be, Stanley Beckham, Bruce Chandler, Justin Moore, Gene Batten, Tim Sweatt and Michael Griffin. Honorary will be, Ruby White, B J Harrelson, Foster White, Ray White, Tom Holton, Mickey Dixon, Claude Penwell, Glen Carter, Clinton and Kay Reese and the Wesley Chapel Church Family.
