Johnny O. Ivey, age 69, of Alma passed away on March 28, 2018 at the Bacon County Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Alma, Georgia on April 25, 1948 to the late Melvin Lamar Ivey and Winnie Napier Ivey. Three brothers, Gerald Lambert Ivey, Melvin Lamar Ivey, Jr. and Jack Ivey and two sisters, Jenette Arnold and Jane Ivey preceded him in death. Johnny retired from Milliken after 48 years of employment.
Mr. Ivey is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Meeks Ivey of Alma, Johnny Kirt Ivey (Tammy) of Alma, Camillia Williams and Brenda Medders and husband (John) of Nicholls, one brother, Dewayne Ivey of Alma, seven grandchildren, Kyle Kirt Ivey, Sara Williams, Troy Ivey, Renae Medders, John Medders, Jr., Faith Medders and Owen Taylor, two great-grandchildren, Tobia and Troy Ivey, Jr. and a sister-in-law, Mary Meeks of Alma.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31 st at 11:00 from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. John Thomas, Rev. Jerry Martin and Rev. Mike Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be; Brian Tanner, Joey Mullis and Gary Wines. Honorary pallbearers will be; Walter & Barbara Peacock, Wiley Graham, Ed Adams, Charles Wildes, Friends and Co-Workers of Milliken, Wayne & Peggy Peacock, Pat Lott and Staff and all others in attendance.
Crosby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
