Johnny Philip Tyre, Sr. age 72, of Mershon passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Bacon County Hospital after a brief illness.            Mr. Tyre was born in Bacon County on November 4, 1948 to Kennon L. Tyre, Sr. and Vera Cliett Tyre.

In addition to his parents he was precede in death by a daughter Vera Dawn Tyre and a granddaughter Lila Rae Tyre. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gwen Gilliard Tyre of Mershon; two sons, Johnny Philip Tyre, Jr. (Christy) of Alma and Cory Tyre (Janie) of Mershon; two brothers, Kennon L. "Tony" Tyre, Jr. (Janice) of Mershon and Cleve Tyre, Sr. (Jan) of Douglas and 6 grandchildren, Trey, Jesse, Cora Jane, Vera Kate, Whitman and Eliza Joe.

Graveside services will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Damascus Church Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Mullis, Rev. L. G. Aldridge and Rev. R. B. Gaskins officiating.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
