Joyce T. Whitaker, age 78, of Alma passed away October 17, 2021 at her residence after an extended illness. Born in Bacon County on May 29, 1943 to Thomas Tanner and Samantha Tanner. She attended the Church of God of Prophecy.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Delmus Sullivan and Russell Whitaker; daughter, Rhonda Kay Sullivan; brothers, Royce Tanner and Tommy Joe Tanner and sister, Edith Faye Williams. Survivors include her son, James Whitaker (Christy) of Bath, SC.; daughters, Denise Rigby (Jamie) of Alma, Julie Altman (Jamie) of Six Mile, SC., Ann Tanner (Wiley) of Pearson, GA.; brother, Greg Tanner; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Pastor Lynn Music and Rev. David Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.

Active pallbearers will be; Kyle Morgan, Bradley Morgan, Wade Morgan, Lee Altman, Micheal Altman and Thomas Hatcher. Honorary pallbearers will be; Millie Taylor and Greg Tanner.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
