Juanita Crosby, age 97, of Baxley died early Thursday morning February 18th, 2016 at Appling Health Care after a short illness. She was a native of Appling County, daughter of the late Edgar Crosby and Venna Miles Crosby and was also preceded in death by her husband J W Crosby, a son Gerald Crosby, six brothers Doyle Crosby, Willie (Bill) Crosby, G S (Son) Crosby, Loyle (Brownie) Crosby, Action (Bud) Crosby, B.M. (Mack) Crosby, three sisters Edna Herrington, Cassie Whitmore and Vera Price. Juanita was a member of Satilla Baptist Church in Appling County.
Survivors include two sons Wendell Crosby (Elizabeth), Curtis Crosby (Linda), four daughters Collene Hand (David), Phyllis Griffin (J F), Caroldean Crosby, and Kathy Ann Everett (Deryl) all of Baxley, a sister Alleta Drummond of Jacksonville, FL, nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 o'clock at Satilla Baptist Church in Appling Co. with Rev. Mike DeLoach and Rev. Todd Crosby officiating and a eulogy will be delivered by Derrick Causey. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the church between 9:00 A M and funeral time Saturday.
Active pallbearers will be, Mark Johnson, Bryan and Bill Nix, Joshua and Michael Hunter and Derrick Causey. Honorary will be Altamaha Home Health Care, Deacons of Satilla Baptist Church and Walter and Nancy Langton.
