Julian Marcus Lewis, Sr., age 90, of Alma died at the Bacon County Hospital Saturday March 14th, 2015 after an extended illness. He was a native of Ware County but had lived in Bacon County since 1947. He was son of the late Reuben Banks Lewis and Martha Maggie Rigdon Lewis and also preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Anderson Lewis, 5 brothers, Otis, Nanny, Tommy, Gene and Warnie Lewis, 3 sisters, Laura Bell Carter, Clara Mae Deen and Lois Wheeler. Marcus was a farmer, member of Wesley Chapel Southern Congregational Methodist Church and a veteran of WW II serving in the U S Army.
Survivors include three sons, Julian Marcus Lewis, Jr. (Bonnie), Earl Lewis (Frances) and Tony Lewis (Mollie) all of Alma, a daughter, Joyce Rigdon (Rev. Tommy), of Alma, a sister, Valare Boyer of Jacksonville, FL, 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 o'clock at Wesley Chapel Southern Congregational Methodist Church with Rev. Tommy Rigdon, Rev. Danny Turner and Rev. Mark Carver officiating. Interment will follow in Wolf Pit Cemetery. The body will be carried to the church Tuesday at 10:00 A M to lie in state. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Monday evening between 6 and 9 P M. and is gathering at the home place on 4th Street Ext.
Active pallbearers will be, Greg, Randy, Dustin and Stevie Lewis, Rodney and Scotty Rigdon. All others in attendance will be considered as honorary.
