Kagy Slaughter, Jr. age 62, of Alma died Tuesday at the Eastman, GA Hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Bacon County, son of the late Kagy Slaughter, Sr. and Agnes Williams Slaughter and was also preceded in death by two sisters Mary Frances Peterson and Loraine Sheppard. Kagy was a furniture master craftsman.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years Melba Jean Batten Slaughter of Alma, 3 sons Kagy Slaughter, III (April) of Jesup, Samuel Ed Slaughter (Rachel) of Elgin, S C, Stephen Isaac Slaughter of Alma, a step-son James Harrison of Alma, a daughter Anna Alisha Vickers (John Eric) of Alma, two brothers Phillip Slaughter of Atlanta, Eugene Edward Slaughter of Jackson, GA, a sister Jo Ann Wilson of Lexington, SC. Also 7 grandchildren survive.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 o'clock from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Nettles officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening between 6 and 9 PM.
Active pallbearers will be Kagy Slaughter, III, Samuel Slaughter, Stephen Slaughter, James Harrison, Chad Taylor and Kevin Kirkland.
