Mrs. Kathy Godwin Burkett, age 66, of Douglas passed away December 20, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a short illness. She was born in Bacon County on June 7,1956 to David Alexander Godwin and Jessie Mae Allen Godwin Stewart. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Stephanie Burkett, brothers, Ronnie Godwin, Dale Godwin, Phillip Godwin; sisters, Evelyn Harris, Betty Hughes, Wanda Anderson and Shirley Ann Medders.

Survivors include her significant other, Charles Thrift of Douglas; son, Shane Burkett and Angie of Douglas; two brothers, Charles Godwin of Alabama and Jerry Godwin and Linda of Jacksonville; two sisters, Jessie Medders and Karen Story of Alma; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2022 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Crosby Funeral Home with Rev. R. B. Gaskins officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday from 12:00 PM until service time.

Active pallbearers will be; Logan Martin, Joe Kersey, Johnny Boyette, Steve Martin, Dalton Burkett, Allen Thrift and Avery Taylor. All others in attendance will be considered honorary escorts.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
