Obituary

@(Milledgeville) William Kenneth Williams, Sr, 78, died Tuesday January 12th after a brief
illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 14th at 11AM at Alma United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Alma. Additionally, a Celebration of Life will be held Friday January 15 at 2PM at First United Methodist Church in Milledgeville. Visitation will be held one hour prior to both services.

Mr. Williams was born in Alma on February 7, 1937, to William Lafayette and Mildred Turner Williams. He graduated from Bacon County High School and North Georgia College in Dahlonega. He received his Masters of Education and Education Specialist Degree from Valdosta State College and his Doctorate of Education Administration from Sarasota University. He served numerous positions in the public school system spending most of his career as a school administrator.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Milledgeville and the Emmaus
Sunday School Class. He served in many positions in the United Methodist Church through the years as well as being active in leadership positions in the Lions Club, Exchange Club and Kiwanis Club. He also served in the United States Army in Germany in the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment attaining the rank of Captain.

Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors, but his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.

He was active for many years in the Boy Scouts of America. First as Boy Scout then he served as Scout Leader and for many years as a Council member. One of his finest accomplishments was being awarded the distinguished service award, Silver Beaver Award, for his hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication and his years of service for the Boy Scouts of America.

He was predeceased by his first wife of 44 years, Sandra Hulsey Williams. Survivors include his wife, Kikky Goddard Newton Williams of Milledgeville; four children, Kendra Williams of Brunswick, Bill Williams (Paula) of Statesboro, Karen Hix (Bobby) of
Macon and Blaine Williams (Erin) of Savannah; one sister, Flo W. Douglas (Curt) of
Milledgeville, close family friend ,Margaret Bone of Alma, and five grandchildren, Angela Hix of Atlanta, Will Williams of Charleston SC, Grant Williams of Statesboro, Jill Williams of Athens and Gigi Williams of Savannah; one nephew, Art (Katie) Douglas of Atlanta; three stepchildren, Lucy Newton (Eric Albert) of Washington DC, Ben Newton (Elizabeth) of Atlanta, Lindy Gallagher (Jack) of Bethesda MD and eight step-grandchildren.
