Kennon "Tony" Tyre, Jr, age 77, of Mershon passed away October 29, 2023 at Hospice Satilla after a short illness. He was a native of Bacon County and son of the late Kennon Tyre, Sr. and Vera Cliett Tyre. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Tyre.

Mr. Tyre was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and retired farmer.

Survivors include two children, Kennon Tyre, III (Jeris) of Patterson and Tracie Tyre Johnson (David) of Blackshear; Janice Tyre of Nicholls; four grandchildren, Jake Tyre, Emma Tyre, Mabrie Johnson and Will Lawton Johnson; brother, Cleve Tyre (Jan) of Douglas; sister-in-law, Gwen Tyre and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Damascus Church Cemetery with Rev. Donnie Mullis and Rev. Randy Cox officiating.

Active pallbearers will be: Corey Tyre, Phil Tyre, Brandon Tyre, Cleve Tyre, Jr., Scotty Scott and Casey Rogers.

Crosby Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
